Three recent openings in Beijing, Hong Kong and Seoul have brought FEP’s contemporary photography exhibitions to Asian audiences.
Civilization: The Way We Live Now, an ambitious project and multifaceted portrait of our time, has opened at Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA). This large-scale exhibition features over 130 artists and more than 500 prints, and began its tour at Seoul’s National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) last fall. Civilization touches on diverse themes ranging from the way today’s societies live, work and play, to the way they wage war and surveil their populations.
At the year’s opening, another new exhibition entitled Beyond Fashion was inaugurated at ArtisTree in Hong Kong. The 100 photographs by 50 of today’s most lauded fashion photographers have pivoted from the magazine page to the museum wall, delighting and inspiring audiences with daring and genre-blurring imagery which celebrates fashion photography’s ascension to the status of art.
